Listened to the video recording of a web conference.
Today I listened to Dr. Abernathy's web conference recording which took place on 3/12/11 at 11:30. Since this was not my first video conference I pretty much knew what to expect. Dr. Abernathy only allowed a few people to have their camaras active due to keeping distractions at a minimum. As always, I have thoroughly enjoyed this web conference becuase I learn first hand from Dr. Abernathy as well as from reading the posts from others. They discuss assignment questions, program questions, and they help each other with answers or comments.
The topics varied from the LCE exam, the STaR Chart to special educations and assistive technology. The usage of web 2.0 and blogs was discussed as well as open source software. Dr. Abernathy shared her blog address, and also specifically mentioned Jorneys for Learning blog.
The video recording was 59 minutes in length and as always was very interactive and informative.

#3 Learning powered by technology plan
This plans presents the concepts of the connected teaching concept. This is were teachers are part of an online learning community. They share information, resources, data, analytical tools, and each others' advice in the area of teaching and learning. Parents who want to be active participants in their children's education are also welcomed members of these online communities. With connected teaching, teaching is no longer an isolated activity. Teachers are equipped with technology and are 'connected' 24/7. In addition, connected teaching offers teachers the opportunity to personalize instruction with various software applications that provide simulations in the core subject areas. These simulations help students make well informed choices. As far as professional development goes, connected teaching offers a more direct learnign experience.

Blog#2: Progress Report on Long Range Plan
This is a very lengthy and detailed report. It offeres data in the four areas of interest which are teaching and learning, educator preparation, administration and support, and infrastructure. The assessment analysis and data collected have made it possible for technology standards to be reviewed, budgeting allowances to be in place, and curriculum to be revised.
#1 Texas Long Range Plan
One important area of the Texas Long Range Plan is Key Area 1: Teaching and Learning. This consists of patters of classroom use, frequency and design of instructional setting, content area connections, technology applications TEKS implementation, student mastery of technology applications, and online learning. As a campus, we fall under the developing classification. This reflects a classroom that is teacher-directed and students regularly use technology on an individual basis as a means of accessing information for communication and presentation projects. This falls short of evaluating and analyzing data collaboratively. The 2007-2008 Campus Statewide Summary shows the developing level of progress for this category to be at 69.7%. Areas for improvement can be made in teacher training so that teachers are more confident in content delivery and content aligment with technology applications.

Week 4 Progress
After meeting with my campus supervisor, I realized that my wondering may change and that I have to flexible. We will be having a workshop on Service Learning on Aug. 16th and my supervisor wants me to incorporate a service learning project into my action reserach plan. She would want me to either focus on attendance or parental involvement. She also suggested that incorporating a service learning project will help with both of these issues at our school.
